Fitness Center:
The community opened a 2000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art fitness center in 2002, featuring both free weights and weight training equipment as well as cardio-vascular equipment. Additionally, there is a new lap pool dedicated to exercise.

Health Care:
Beaufort County Hospital (www.beaufortcountyhospital.org) is 10 minutes away in Washington. It is a 142-bed non-profit community hospital with 45 physicians and 560 nurses, technicians, and staff, offering exceptional local care.

Pitt County Memorial Hospital is a teaching hospital associated with the Medical School of East Carolina University in Greenville. The 725-bed hospital is a fully accredited community care center, level 1 trauma center and regional referral facility. More than 200 private practice physicians and dozens of regional outpatient and satellite clinics, representing virtually every medical specialty, make this regional medical center widely recognized as one of the best in the Southeast.

Education & Local Schools:
Beaufort County Schools (www.beaufort.k12.nc.us) provide quality education for all students in the county. Chocowinity Primary was awarded exemplary Status by the NC Department of Public Instruction in '97- '98 school year. Southside High School, a brand new high school for students from Chocowinity and Aurora, opened in January, 2000.

Beaufort County Community College (www.beaufort.cc.nc.us) is located in nearby Washington. It offers a broad range of vocational and academic programs, as well as a very extensive list of continuing education programs.

East Carolina University's (www.ecu.edu) main campus is located in Greenville, 22 miles from Cypress Landing. ECU is the third largest university in the state. The University offers over 100 undergraduate programs and 92 graduate programs, plus an outstanding continuing education program.
